“You’re a World Changer!” Speaker Rob Purnellr
Peter Ruck opened the meeting with some words from Zechariah 2:5 – when we stay in faith we are surrounded by a wall of fire. He encouraged everyone to invite God to finish His good work in their hearts during the meeting over the last seven weeks.
Rob Purnell was introduced and shared that he has been a senior pastor a church in Earl’s Colne in north Essex. He is in the process of stepping down to pursue a wider calling from God, although it has been an encouraging season – with one or more people making a profession of faith at every Sunday meeting.
Rob shared an exposition of Luke 9, where the 12 disciples were sent out in pairs to proclaim the Kingdom of God. He focussed on the instruction, “take nothing with you”. That is a challenge for us – we always take our ideas, equipment, skills and energy. Jesus calls us to rely on His equiping alone.
Then Rob looked at the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19. Jesus had been passing through Jericho – why did He stop and have a meal with Zacchaeus?
It was because Jesus delighted in Zacchaeus’ desire to see Him. Do we have that hunger for Jesus’ presence in our lives?
There followed a time of prayer and impartation.
